Hi all, I'm relatively new to Ubuntu and I will most likely install WINE on my next desktop for gaming. However my present puter is an Acer netbook and I would like to run MS Paint on it.

I'm not saying Paint is a bad application, as such. It's great at what it does. It's just that what it does isn't a whole lot. I'm guessing that the prevalence of graphical artists on the Mac platform means there's a bigger market for higher-end applications than Paint. MyBrushes Paint for Mac app is the best Mac paint tool to paint on Mac infinite canvas and PLAYBACK whole drawing. MyBrushes, an excellent paint program for Mac, is a good alternative to Microsoft Paint and Apple Mac Paint.
I know you will tell me there are a lot of other Ubuntu apps that can do the job but I want MS Paint and it would be nice if I didn't have to log in and out of OS's just to access MS Paint from time to time. Anybody knows if and how I can run Paint in WINE? Cheers and thanx! PepeLapiu Hi, Check out 'Ubuntu Software Center' for 'mtPaint'.
Its a very simple and easy to use paint program. If your looking for something more complicated with a million more features, then look for 'GIMP'. Both above programs run natively in Ubuntu and would not be run in WINE. Jesse PepeLapiu. Hi all, I'm relatively new to Ubuntu and I will most likely install WINE on my next desktop for gaming. You could install VirtualBox (its free and in the Ubuntu software catalog) and then install Windows(R) XP into it and then run XP's paint program all while still in Ubuntu? Here is a screenshot: Jesse L. Anybody knows if and how I can run Paint in WINE? (Why waste time to ask instead of just trying yourself?) Here is the answer: If you open the link you will find test results for different versions of Paint. In case you want to try to run Paint from Vista or Windows 7, please do so and add your test results to AppDB. Well, also note that form my experience Pre-Windows 6.x, MS Paint heavily was based on GDI+ environment / API.
But since Windows 6.x, some stuff may be forwared ( keeping on old traditions, M$??? ) to DWM ( Desktop Window ( COMPOSITION!!! ) Manager ) which therefore means you should be prepared to do some serious backtracing on errors, whivh means all your fun with MS Pain may end in missing function of some Class subset.
